Support our new prison release support service!
Quebec is facing an unprecedented housing crisis. Homelessness is on the rise, and the particularities of women's homelessness can no longer be ignored. For women in the justice system, the risks of homelessness are exponential. Prison exacerbates their poverty and makes them even more precarious.
The SEFQ has developed a new service, unavailable in Quebec, for women and people of various gender identities who have been through the justice system:
M'appartenir après ma sortie (MAPS), a support service for people leaving prison.
This project creates a continuum of services from detention to the community, thanks to the support of the MAPS social worker. This innovative project meets an essential need for women in the justice system to successfully reintegrate into society. It fills a gap in services adapted to women's realities. We felt it was urgent to set up a support service for women leaving prison, specifically tailored to the needs of women in conflict with the law, in order to prevent homelessness.
Support this initiative and let's stay vigilant against hidden homelessness!
