Accompaniment on release from prison and in community (MAPS)

The M’appartenir après ma sortie (MAPS) project is an individualized social support service for women who have been in the justice system, whether they are just out of prison or living in the community. Its main goal is to help them find stable housing, which is key to preventing recidivism and promoting social reintegration.

Release from prison often plunges women into a state of great precariousness: isolation, lack of resources, increased risk of homelessness and violence. However, access to safe and stable housing is a key protective factor, both in preventing recidivism and in enabling compliance with the legal conditions of a community sentence.

This project aims to fill the gap in Quebec's services for residential support for women in the justice system. With decades of expertise working with women across the province, the Société Elizabeth Fry du Québec (SEFQ) is rolling out this initiative with an approach that is sensitive to gender realities and life trajectories marked by systemic violence.

This service is offered on referral by the various SEFQ services and its partners, by other relevant organizations, or upon direct request by the person concerned.

The SEFQ evaluates requests based on availability.
