The SEFQ recently created a position to support women detainees at the Joliette Institution in an effort to assert their rights and improve their living conditions in detention. A lawyer specialized in carceral law, the protector's mandate is to diagnose the systemic problems facing women and to take concerted action to bring concrete, long-lasting changes in the lives of women prisoners.
