Ruth Gagnon, a graduate of honor at the School of Criminology

A Criminology Bachelor graduate in 1980 and CEO of the Elizabeth Fry Society of Quebec, Ruth Gagnon has dedicated her professional life to criminalized people, offering crime prevention and social reintegration services. In the beginning of her career, she was the Clinical Director of the Thérèse-Casgrain Halfway House, the first of its kind in Quebec. Located in the Notre-Dame-de-Grâce neighbourhood, it hosts each year around one hundred women engaged in a reintegration process.

During her thirty-five years of career, she has intervened with adolescents and adults, accompanying and supporting them throughout their reintegration process. Ms. Ruth Gagnon is recognized for her excellent judgment and compassion; two qualities highly appreciated by her main counterparts in the criminal justice system and her community partners.

Honoured at the graduation ceremony of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences – Monday, October 26, 2015.
